As a Medical Documentation Technician, you’ll Assist with all document handling and mail room functions, including but not limited to data entering information into company databases/ computer systems. Organizes and maintains health information both in paper files and electronic systems. Opening, sorting and routing mail to appropriate departments daily. 

 

Pay Range: $18-$19

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates in the processing of incoming and outgoing mail
  • Sorts, analyzes and scans company mail into the appropriate document file folder
  • Performs document validation and links document images to patient medical records
  • Performs document reconciliation using corresponding work queues
  • Checks data for accuracy, assign codes for insurance reimbursement and  mails to insurance companies
  • Prepares incoming patient and insurance checks for daily bank deposits
  • May assist in the distribution of inter-office mail and incoming packages, accepts deliveries such as office supplies and assists in storage and/or delivering to the appropriate department
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information
  • Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department
  • Follows all Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and Private Insurance regulations and requirements
  • Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required with 1 year office related medical records experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and computer literacy
  • Proficient and accurate data entry
  • Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, communication (verbal and in writing with proper spelling, grammar and punctuation), and organizational skills are essential
  • Ability to operate related office equipment
