As a Phamracy Tech II, you will be under direct supervision of a pharmacist, the technician is responsible for entering new prescriptions for patients and processing orders. The technician will also be responsible for completing doctor calls to acquire prescription refills for medications.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, sort and verify the accuracy of data prior to being entered into the system
  • Possesses a strong pharmacy knowledge base including translation of sig codes, product selection, basic knowledge of brand and generic drugs by name
  • Store completed documents in appropriate locations
  • Must be familiar with filling prescription orders, processing queues, completing department To-Do’s and processing prescription refills
  • Outbound contact to doctors office to request new prescriptions for pharmacy patients
  • Maintains a complete understanding of prescription processing including: data entry, creation of shipment schedules, verification of insurance and patient eligibility, prescriber calls for prescription refills, intake of refill Rxs from prescriber, generation and  collation of processed queues
  • Answers inbound patient-related calls, as needed
  • Maintains a working knowledge of  assigned specific pharmacy area/functions as well as cross training in other areas throughout the pharmacy as indicated by management
  • Courteously assists all customers, internal and external
  • Achieves stated goals and objectives as outlined by managements
  • Regular and consistent attendance
  • Completes any additional duties/functions that managements sees applicable
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance

  • Maintains open lines of communication with Administration, department management and other departmental personnel
  • Follows all Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance regulations and requirements
  • Actively participates in Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Demonstrates thoroughness with all work related activities. Strives to continually improve quality and productivity results displayed by Department Personnel on an ongoing basis
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager
  • Abides by all policies, procedures and protocols set forth in the departmental, CCS Medical Personnel and Administrative Policy Manuals
  • Maintains scheduling flexibility to ensure availability to meet the needs of the department for all hours of operation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum 1—2 years working as a Pharmacy Technician (inbound/outbound call center experience preferred). 
  • Must successfully complete a board-approved Pharmacy Technician certification program with licensure requirements completed prior to January 1, 2011.
  • Ability to speak effectively with patients and doctors offices during calls
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using wholenumbers, common fractions and decimals. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
