Overview

Responsible for building, managing, and maintaining overall patient care duties and customer relationships for the Insulin Pump department including new patient sign-on and establishing and nourishing the relationship with outside sales, provider contacts, and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains strong, professional relationships with prospective patients, health care professionals, manufacturing partners and outside sales force. 
  • Performs new business prospecting, while continuing to maintain assigned business
  • Processes referrals including outbound calls to potential patients, physicians, and business partners
  • Answers in-bound and transferred phone calls from prospective and existing insulin pump patients
  • Collects proper documentation prior to sign on
  • Performs all Preauthorization requirements prior to shipping
  • Verifies insurance coverage as needed
  • Creates initial shipments once all documentation has been collected
  • Responsible for the patient up to the fourth month or until first reorder
  • Updates work flow for reporting purposes
  • Coordinates training with pump manufacturer or doctor’s office
  • Maintains accurate patient records
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance

 OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Responds to overflow incoming patient calls
  • Maintains open lines of communication with Administration, Billing, Management and other departmental personnel
  • Follows all Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance regulations and requirements
  • Demonstrates thoroughness with all work related activities; strives to continually improve quality and productivity results displayed by Insulin Pump personnel on an ongoing basis
  • Participates in educational programs and in-house meetings on product information and new procedures
  • Maintains and promotes patient confidentiality
  • Maintains open lines of communication with Administration, department management and other departmental personnel
  • Follows all Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance regulations and requirements
  • Actively participates in Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Demonstrates thoroughness with all work related activities.  Strives to continually improve quality and productivity results displayed by Department Personnel on an ongoing basis
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager
  • Abides by all policies, procedures and protocols set forth in the departmental, CCS Medical Personnel and Administrative Policy Manuals
  • Maintains scheduling flexibility to ensure availability to meet the needs of the department for all hours of operation

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, a minimum of one year prior inside sales and/or account management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
